16 days of activism

by Out of the Box

This year, the 16 days of activism against gender-based violence campaign is even more poignant.

There is more attention on the harassment, abuse and violence against women than ever before in the 16 year history of this campaign. Unfortunately, it has taken the public outing of a range of Hollywood figures, politicians and other high profile identities for this issue to get the attention in the mainstream media it warrants.

Much of our work at Out of the Box is with organisations tackling this issue at the grassroots level. From understanding the needs of traumatised Syrian refugee women and their children fleeing violence and trying to survive, to helping educators create learning environments that provide equal opportunities for girls to providing economic empowerment training – we are focused on practical solutions.

Every woman and every girl – wherever they are – has the right to live free from violence. We are committed to partnering with those whose focus is on addressing the causes of violence, while helping girls and young women build resilience, understand their rights and develop strategies to bring change. Join us as we ‘orange the world and leave no one behind’.
