The Partnership Initiative training on Building Effective Partnerships for Development covered discussions from who are partners, what does partnership mean to the partnering cycle.  The training involved a whole mix of case studies and role play and with a group of 10 was extremely interactive. We had the chance to look at building partnerships and the challenges that are often experienced in the process. Two sessions on negotiations between partners from different sectors brought to life the real issues development partners have to deal with when coming together on projects.

DSC00104Partnerships vary from simply transactional ones to genuine partnership relationships. The value addition of partnerships is often an expected outcome however unless the partnering process takes into considerations the various interests and challenges, and a level of trust, the partnership may not be effective. The three day training is totally beneficial to anyone interested in brokering or entering into partnerships.
